With the PSS®MUST demonstration
copy you have the whole PSS®MUST program, but it will only
be able to run the load flow cases provided. Subsystem, monitored
element, and contingency files can be provided by you, or you
can use those provided.

Installation
After downloading the demo, unzip
the contents of the downloaded zip file to a temporary folder
and execute the SETUP.EXE. Follow the onscreen prompts and install
the provided democases.
If the demo is on a CD, run SETUP.EXE
from the PSS®MUST CD and follow the prompts. The demonstration
copy is a fully functional PSS®MUST program with a restricted
selection of power flow cases. Contact Siemens Power Transmission
& Distribution, Inc., Power Technologies International (PTI) to
arrange for a demo with the ability of reading the power flow
case of your choice.
Start-Up
Double-click the PSS®MUST
icon, choose PSS®MUST from the Start Program selection, or
start the program by opening the MUST***.XLS file in the MUST/Program
subdirectory using MS Excel. A menu will display with your input
data choices.
(where *** = version, ex. 400,
300)
Reading Data
This demonstration copy can only
run four load flow cases (all FERC downloads). Choose the case
you are most interested in:
WSCC 2002 Summer Peak Case (Rating B replaced with rating
A)
MMWG 2002 Summer Peak Case, 1997 release
ERCOT Summer 1997 Peak Load Case
FRCC 1998 Summer Peak Case
Subsystem Definition
The demo will automatically start
with the demo.sub file provided in the /democases subdirectory.
This file automatically forms subsystems for each area in the
power flow case. The subsystems with the suffix _exa have generator
participation factors for area export, _ima for area import studies,
and _lda for area load changes. Users can specify other subsystem
files that align with the cases provided according to PSS®E
format and with the extensions documented in the PSS®MUST
Help file. The PSS®MUST Help file contains numerous examples
that can be directly copied into user input files.
Monitored Elements
The demo can be automatically started
to monitor all 200 or 300 kV (and above) branches in the case.
Users can specify other monitored element files that align with
the cases provided according to PSS™E format and with the
extensions documented in the PSS®MUST Help file.
Contingencies
The demo can be automatically started
to outage all 200 or 300 kV (and above) branches (single outage)
in the case. Users can specify other contingency files that align
with the cases provided according to PSS®E format and with
the extensions documented in the MUST Help file.
Excluded Elements
PSS®MUST can exclude monitored
elements, contingencies, or their specific combination "on
the fly". The demo provides the choice of excluding all initial
violations, which prevents the occurrence of initial negative
FCITCs.
Running PSS®MUST
After specifying the starting data
(and changing PSS®MUST options from the data input screen,
if desired), click OK. After a short time, the PSS®MUST Main
Menu will appear. Later in the session you may get this menu from
the MS Excel menu bar, or right-click the mouse button. Choose
Reports Master to review previous results.
