On July 31, 2008, the Siemens Power Academy hosted a course completion luncheon for the 2006-2008 Power Technology Course participants from PPL Electric Utilities. Twenty-seven people were recognized for their successful completion of the two-year program held in Allentown, PA. During the luncheon, David DeCampli, president of PPL, addressed the participants and spoke of the blossoming relationship between PPL and Lehigh University to award college credit for successful completion of the Power Technology Course. He stressed that this is a plan in its development stage, but he had high hopes of formalizing the details so that everyone could use this program as a catalyst to achieve their Masters degree in Electrical Engineering at Lehigh University. Certificates of completion were handed out by Renee Devine, Manager of Education for Siemens PTI, and David DeCampli. Participants were also recognized with engraved gifts from PPL.

As part of the course completion celebration, the Patricia M. Myers Award was given to a participant of the current curriculum who demonstrated a strong commitment to the program through attendance, grades, and overall involvement during the course. This award was created in honor of Pat's commitment to education during her 20+ years with Siemens PTI. The recipient for the 2006-2008 course was Bashar Jarrah. He received a personal plaque and will have his name added to a commemorative plaque displayed at Siemens PTI's headquarters in Schenectady, NY. Mr. Jarrah was the main point of contact at PPL for coordination of the program delivery. With this added responsibility, Mr. Jarrah was still able to maintain high academic levels.

During Renee Devine's closing remarks she noted that the participants have demonstrated their commitment to their community as well as to their company. Renee continued to acknowledge their efforts by stating, "This is a unique opportunity to tap the knowledge of our industry experts and learn from your colleagues. These will be the people that you will call upon, collaborate with, and connect with throughout your careers."
